1. What DeductIQ is

DeductIQ is a Discord bot that provides educational tax information for traders and self-employed individuals. It is not a tax preparation service, accounting firm, or financial advisor. DeductIQ does not file taxes, submit forms, or take any action on your behalf with the IRS or any state revenue department.

2. Not professional advice

All information provided by DeductIQ, including AI-generated responses, is for educational purposes only and does not constitute tax, legal, or financial advice. DeductIQ is not a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or tax attorney. You should always consult a licensed tax professional for advice specific to your situation.

3. AI-generated content

Responses from the /ask command and other features are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude). AI responses may contain errors, inaccuracies, or outdated information. You are responsible for verifying any information before making financial decisions based on it.

4. No liability

DeductIQ and its operators are not liable for any damages, penalties, interest, or losses that may result from actions you take based on information provided by the bot. This includes but is not limited to:

• Incorrect tax filings or missed deductions
• Penalties or interest from the IRS or state authorities
• Financial losses from tax planning decisions
• Errors in AI-generated responses

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use DeductIQ for illegal tax evasion or fraud
• Attempt to bypass rate limits or abuse the service
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or redistribute the bot's content
• Misrepresent DeductIQ's responses as professional tax advice

6. Subscription and billing

DeductIQ offers free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are processed through Discord App Subscriptions. Refunds, billing disputes, and cancellations are handled according to Discord's Monetization Terms. We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice.

7. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of DeductIQ after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be announced in the bot's support server.

1. What we collect

DeductIQ collects minimal data required to operate the bot:

• Discord User ID — used for rate limiting and user preferences. This is a public numeric identifier, not your email or password.
• Command usage — which commands you use and when, for rate limiting and anonymous usage analytics.
• State preference — if you set a home state, we store your two-letter state abbreviation.

2. What we do NOT collect

• Your name, email, phone number, or address
• Your income, trading activity, or financial data
• Social Security numbers or tax identification numbers
• Bank account or credit card information
• The content of your messages in Discord (we only see slash command inputs)

3. How we use your data

• Rate limiting — tracking daily command usage to enforce free tier limits
• Service improvement — anonymous, aggregated analytics on which commands are popular
• Personalization — storing your state preference so you don't have to type it each time

4. Data sharing

We do not sell, license, or share your data with any third party, data broker, advertising network, or monetization service. Your slash command inputs are sent to Anthropic's API for AI processing — Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that processing. No other third parties receive your data.

5. Data retention

• Usage tracking data (rate limiting) — automatically deleted after 30 days
• User preferences (state, settings) — stored until you request deletion

6. Your rights

You can request deletion of all your data at any time by using the /delete-my-data command in Discord, or by contacting us at privacy@deductiq.xyz. We will delete your data within 7 days of the request.

7. Data security

Your data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest and in transit. Access is restricted to the bot's service account. We follow industry-standard security practices.

8. Children's privacy

DeductIQ is not intended for users under 13 years of age (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
